It was initially named it as Ishqana, but had to change it since another movie with the name of Ishqia came. The movie was named Garam Hawa as a tribute to M.S. Sathyus classic film of that name. Since Sathu got upset, Priyadarshan changed its name to Aakrosh, which was already an old movie’s name but its director, Govind allowed them the permission.
