Pakistan Cricket TeamPakistan team has a lot of good players who are performing both individually and collectively well to maintain the success scene in the ICC Champions Trophy 2009.

The team however is facing problems to select players in the semi finals. In the match against Australia, the team replaced Muhammad Asif with Imran Nazir and Muhammad Aamer was also replaced with Misbah-ul-Haq. Both players did reasonably well as Asif scored 41 which helped Pakistan achieve high scores. Misbah did good bowling by taking two wickets and gives 34 score in eight overs. The PCB’s selection commitee says that all the players are best and it is very difficult to choose the best among them.

Pakistan’s captain Younis Khan said “You are absolutely right. We have got selection problems as there are too many aspirants for the playing eleven. Every player who has represented Pakistan so far in the Trophy deserves a place in the team. But you cannot play 13 members.”

Australia TeamThe scene of semi finals is very dramatic. No one speculated that such a mess would be there and a lot of unpredictability would be observed in the cricket scene. The ICC Champions Trophy 2009 is the weak point of every cricket team and those who have reached semi-finals are trying to win the trophy. Australia is the last team that entered the queue of semi-winners.

Now New Zealand, England, Australia and Pakistan are candidates for semi-finals. Australia was very desperate until it defeated Pakistan.

The famous batsmen Ricky Ponting was quoted saying that he was chewing nails while match was in progress. He also said that “We have just come from a really good series against them over there, but it`s different conditions here to what we confronted over there and they have been playing some pretty good cricket of late”.

Australia will surely perform reasonably well in the semi-finals and will not repeat the mistakes they made in previous matches.

After all the hype of coming into the ICC Champions Trophy as the No. 1 team in the world, and then to end last in our group is hugely disappointing.”.
