Pakistan vs Sri Lanka

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka

This should be an exciting match between the two teams who have proven themselves worthy of having equal chance of winning the final battle. Pakistan are a bit better in bowling while Sri Lanka have won matches due to their depth in batting. However on paper, Pakistan is a more balanced team that has an ideal combination of spin and pace bowling. Talha is a recent discovery who has shown promising signs and his role will be very crucial in today’s match. Umar Gul is an experienced player, but he collapses under pressure situations. It would be better to start attack from Junaid Khan. Sri Lanka will be hoping that their top order is able to resist Pakistan’s bowling but their performance in the last match against Bangladesh has been very disappointing. They need to concentrate on good partnerships from the start.

Toss will be important for both the teams due to the dew factor. If this is not a batting wicket, both teams would go for bowling first. Pakistan captain is a cautious player who loves to make his strategy after he knows how much score to chase. He is prone to opt for bowling if toss goes to his favor. This is not a good strategy because every decision should be taken according to the nature of the pitch. He should learn to take risks in cricket.

Skipper Angelo Mathews won the Man of the Match award for his performance, which included scoring a game-high 74 runs, against Bangladesh.  On the bowling front, Suranga Lakmal, Thisara Perera, Ajantha Mendis and Ashan Priyanjan all took two wickets apiece.

One storyline for Sri Lanka is the batting struggles of Mahela Jayawardene, who was held scoreless against Bangladesh.  Despite Jayawardene accounting for only 36 runs in the tournament, his team remains confident he can snap out of his slump.

“He normally bats very well; it’s only in the last three to four matches he has failed,” Perera said, via CricBuzz.com.  “He’s a legend of cricket.  He can come back very strongly at any time.  He’s our key batsman along with (Kumar) Sangakkara.  Hope he comes back to form against Pakistan.”

Pakistan’s only loss of the Asia Cup came in their opener against Sri Lanka.  The Pakistanis bounced back from their 12-run loss and won three straight matches, including winning by three wickets on Tuesday against Bangladesh.

Shahid Afridi won the Man of the Match award, and Ahmed Shehzad scored a game-high 103 runs.

In the Angelo Mathews era, Sri Lanka continue to gather strength with their newfound unity, producing a series of relatively consistent performances culminating in the recent ODI whitewash against Bangladesh. Mahela Jayawardene missed that three-game series but returns for this tournament and will strengthen the middle order while Kusal Perera’s claims to replace Sanath Jayasuriya at the top of the order continue to grow.

Similarly, Pakistan are in decent form. As well as ousting the Sri Lankans in their January ODI series, they beat South Africa in South Africa. But Misbah-ul-Haq was coy about their overall chances

Watch Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 1st Simi Final T20 WC 2012 Live Score Streaming at Colombo. Same as the final of T20 World Cup 2009, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are facing each other again in the knockout match of T20 Cricket World Cup 2012. It will be crucial and entertaining game because Sri Lanka must be keen to maintain their winning streak in front of their home crowd. On the other hand Team Pakistan will enter in ground with boosting enthusiasm and confidence, as they managed to qualify for the semi-final fourth time consecutively in T20 World Cup.

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka

The past records of both teams are fabulous, but Pakistan has an upper hand on Sri Lanka. They played nine T20 matches against each other and Pakistan managed to be victorious six times. Analysis of both team’s performance in current tournament indicates that so far their flight is stable. This is due to the fact that playing conditions are suitable for both teams, but some credit must be given to the players because all Asian teams do not reached in semi final stage, including India.  R.Premadasa Stadium will host this high voltage match. Here pitch behavior is normal and it is supporting both batsmen and bowlers especially spinners. Ball is coming smoothly on the bat and we have already seen a total of 196 few days back in one of group match but we have also seen the Australian team struggling in front of heavy weight Pakistani Spin Attack, ending up on 117 at the very same pitch. Spinners proved to be more successful in this T20 World Cup. There is no doubt that Saeed Ajmal, Ajantha Mendis and Raza Hassan are trump cards for their teams but batsmen of both teams are very proficient in playing spinners. This means pacers can be handy in this game. Anything in between 160-170 will be a competitive total and spectators will surely enjoy this high pressure game.

Pakistan Squad:

Mohammad Hafeez (captain), Abdul Razzaq, Imran Nazir, Asad Shafiq, Kamran Akmal (wk), Mohammad Sami, Raza Hasan, Nasir Jamshed, Saeed Ajmal, Shoiab Malik, Shahid Afridi, Umar Akmal, Sohail Tanvir, Yasir Arafat, Umar Gul and Umar Akmal.

Sri Lankan Squad:

Mahela Jayawardene (captain), Kumar Sangakkara, Angelo Mathews, Lahiru Thirimanne, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Thisara Perera, Dilshan Munaweera, Lasith Malinga, Rngana Herath, Nuwan Kulasekara, Ajantha Mendis, Dinesh Chandimal, Ajantha Mendis, Akhila Dhananjaya and Shaminda Eranga
