This will be the 22nd match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2014 played in Bangladesh. The match will be held at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong. Bangladesh with two wins under its belt is sitting pretty in the top slot of Group 1 and are well versed with the conditions in Bangladesh. They have quality spinners like Seranayake and Ajantha Mendis as well as best T20 death bowler Lasith Malinga in their side. Their batting strength is also very good with the likes of Perrera, Dilshan, Jayawardane, Sangakkara and Mathews in their team.

India vs Bangladesh

India has not gelled as a unit yet in the T20 format and despite having good and in-form players like Martin Lumb, Moen Ali, Ravi Bopara and Eoin Morgan, they are not able to get the upper hand of their opposition. Bangladesh looks to be a formidable side in this tournament and would be eyeing another win in their third match of the Group stages to make them worthy of the semi-final spot. Bangladesh would be winning this tie against India, but will have to fight hard to earn their victory.

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka

This should be an exciting match between the two teams who have proven themselves worthy of having equal chance of winning the final battle. Pakistan are a bit better in bowling while Sri Lanka have won matches due to their depth in batting. However on paper, Pakistan is a more balanced team that has an ideal combination of spin and pace bowling. Talha is a recent discovery who has shown promising signs and his role will be very crucial in today’s match. Umar Gul is an experienced player, but he collapses under pressure situations. It would be better to start attack from Junaid Khan. Sri Lanka will be hoping that their top order is able to resist Pakistan’s bowling but their performance in the last match against Bangladesh has been very disappointing. They need to concentrate on good partnerships from the start.

Toss will be important for both the teams due to the dew factor. If this is not a batting wicket, both teams would go for bowling first. Pakistan captain is a cautious player who loves to make his strategy after he knows how much score to chase. He is prone to opt for bowling if toss goes to his favor. This is not a good strategy because every decision should be taken according to the nature of the pitch. He should learn to take risks in cricket.

Sri Lanka and Pakistan came in first and second place, respectively, to earn spots in the final.  The Sri Lankans won all four of their matches, including the Asia Cup opener against Pakistan, and are coming off a three-wicket win on Thursday against Bangladesh.

Skipper Angelo Mathews won the Man of the Match award for his performance, which included scoring a game-high 74 runs, against Bangladesh.  On the bowling front, Suranga Lakmal, Thisara Perera, Ajantha Mendis and Ashan Priyanjan all took two wickets apiece.

One storyline for Sri Lanka is the batting struggles of Mahela Jayawardene, who was held scoreless against Bangladesh.  Despite Jayawardene accounting for only 36 runs in the tournament, his team remains confident he can snap out of his slump.

“He normally bats very well; it’s only in the last three to four matches he has failed,” Perera said, via CricBuzz.com.  “He’s a legend of cricket.  He can come back very strongly at any time.  He’s our key batsman along with (Kumar) Sangakkara.  Hope he comes back to form against Pakistan.”

Pakistan’s only loss of the Asia Cup came in their opener against Sri Lanka.  The Pakistanis bounced back from their 12-run loss and won three straight matches, including winning by three wickets on Tuesday against Bangladesh.

Shahid Afridi won the Man of the Match award, and Ahmed Shehzad scored a game-high 103 runs.
